The 2016-2017 Wildcat Boys' basketball season was a competitive one, both on the varsity and JV levels. While the win totals from each group may have fallen short of their pre-season goals, this season provided many positive steps forwards.

The Wildcats were led by 7 seniors: Ruben Paz, Daniel Fuentes, J.D. Lekwa, Derek Tisor, Jacob Tiffany, Erik Rees, and Carter Colby. They were coach by Dave Lekwa and Casey Robertson for the second year. All seven seniors were able to see quality playing time and contributed all year.

The varsity team saw itself in a number of close contests all season and finished with 2 wins. Their efforts found them with losses by 10 points or less in 5 over their contests."It was a fun season as the Wildcats were fighting for wins each week. There were numerous instances we were leading games in the 4th quarter," says Coach Lekwa. Coach Lekwa points to their success this year due to the overhauled defense. Coach Lekwa switch from primarily zone defense to man to man defense.

Both Coach Lekwa and Coach Robertson are hopeful for the future. They see the underclassmen as a good core group and feel they will be able to continue the hard work and keep the program heading in the right direction.
